Writer and screenwriter.
Stories begin long before the camera starts rolling.
Alongside acting, Elie Zeitouny develops original texts, concepts and screenplay projects. Writing allows him to explore character, conflict and perspective from another direction. It creates the inner architecture of a story before it reaches the screen or stage.
Language and culture.
Language is rhythm, identity and character.
Elie speaks English fluently and works with both British and American accents. Having lived in Liverpool, he became closely connected with Scouse culture, its humour, directness, rhythm and distinctive musicality of speech.
His experience of Liverpool gave him a direct connection with the character of the city and with a culture that communicates through wit, honesty, energy and a strong sense of identity.
Acting and cinema.
Great performances and great filmmakers remain a source of lifelong study.
Within the British acting tradition, Sir Laurence Olivier occupies a place of exceptional honour. His command of classical performance, voice and stage presence remains an enduring reference.
Daniel Day Lewis represents another summit of the acting craft. Elie deeply respects his discipline, preparation, transformation and pursuit of emotional truth.
Alfred Hitchcock remains essential to his understanding of suspense, visual composition and the relationship between the camera and the audience.
Stanley Kubrick is one of his central cinematic inspirations. Elie values his precision, visual discipline, control of atmosphere and uncompromising approach to storytelling.
His knowledge of American cinema is equally broad. He follows the development of screen acting, the history of the Actors Studio and the changing relationship between performance, direction and the camera.

Work and art.
Every performance begins with observation. Every story begins with a point of view.
For Elie Zeitouny, acting and writing are different ways of understanding people, situations and stories. Close observation becomes a precise and human presence on screen or stage.
